Clean maritime operations - waterfront electrification
Clean Maritime Leadership

We didn't just adopt clean technology. We built it.

Our founding team pioneered hybrid and all-electric passenger ferry operations in the United States before clean maritime was a talking point.

Our Track Record

These are not theoretical positions. They are revenue-service vessels that carried real passengers on real schedules.

2008 — San Francisco, CA
First US Hybrid-Electric Passenger Ferry

Our founding team designed and launched the first hybrid-electric passenger ferry built in the United States, operating on Alcatraz Island service for the National Park Service. The vessel reduced fuel consumption by 75% compared to conventional diesel operations and set the standard for clean propulsion in US harbor transit.

75% Fuel Reduction
2018 — Gees Bend, AL
First US All-Electric Passenger & Vehicle Ferry

Our team delivered the first zero-emission, battery-electric passenger and vehicle ferry in the United States, serving the historic Gees Bend community in Alabama. This wasn't a pilot program or a proof of concept. It was a full-service public transit vessel operating on a daily schedule, carrying residents who depend on water access.

Zero Emission. Zero Compromise.
2025–Present — Harbor Breeze
Renewable Diesel & Fleet Optimization

At Harbor Breeze Cruises in Long Beach, California, Land & Sea operates whale watching and harbor cruise vessels using renewable diesel fuel, reducing lifecycle carbon emissions while maintaining the operational reliability our passengers depend on. Every voyage is a step toward our zero-emission horizon.

Renewable Fuel in Active Service

Our Approach to Fleet Electrification

We've operated battery-electric, hybrid, renewable diesel, and conventional diesel vessels. That breadth makes us uniquely positioned to manage mixed fleets through technology transitions.

Battery-Electric Readiness

Crew certification for electric vessel operations, shore power infrastructure coordination, charging cycle planning, and battery management system monitoring. We prepare crews for electric transitions before the vessel arrives, not after.

Hybrid Fleet Management

Mixed-fleet operations spanning conventional diesel, renewable diesel, hybrid-electric, and battery-electric vessels — often within the same service portfolio. Our teams are trained across propulsion types and can manage the operational complexity that comes with fleet modernization.

Fuel Management & Optimization

Systematic fuel monitoring, consumption benchmarking, and vessel efficiency optimization using CMMS-driven data. We've reduced fuel costs and emissions across every fleet we've operated by treating fuel management as a discipline, not an afterthought.

Terminal & Infrastructure

Shore power installation coordination, charging infrastructure planning, and terminal electrification support. We understand that vessel electrification is a system change, not just a vessel swap, and we plan for the full operational context from terminal to waterway.

Environmental Management

ISO-certified environmental systems are the foundation, not the ceiling. We exceed compliance because we've lived the operational consequences of cutting corners on environmental stewardship.

ISO 14001 Environmental Management

ISO 14001 Certified

Environmental Management System certified to ISO 14001:2015. Our operations are governed by systematic environmental controls including waste reduction, spill prevention, emissions monitoring, and continuous improvement protocols.

ISO 9001 Quality Management

ISO 9001 Certified

Quality Management System certified to ISO 9001:2015. Every operational process is documented, measured, and continuously improved — ensuring the consistency that public transit agencies require and passengers deserve.

ISM Code

ISM Code Compliance

International Safety Management Code compliance across all vessel operations. Safety and environmental stewardship are inseparable in how we operate. A vessel that runs clean is a vessel that runs safe.

ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety

ISO 45001 Certified

Occupational Health & Safety Management System certified to ISO 45001:2018. Crew safety is managed through systematic hazard identification, risk assessment, and continuous improvement — ensuring every team member returns home safely from every voyage.

"Zero-emission waterborne transit isn't a future state. For the communities we serve and the coastlines we operate on, it's a responsibility we've been building toward for nearly two decades."

Land & Sea Leadership

Advancing Clean Maritime Nationwide

Land & Sea is investing in electrification, hybrid propulsion, and renewable fuels across every market we operate. From ferry systems to expedition vessels, we believe operators — not just manufacturers — must lead the transition to zero-emission maritime. We're building the operational playbook for clean vessels at scale.

Workforce Development

A clean fleet runs on a trained crew. We invest in certifications, electric vessel familiarization, and safety training for every crew member who operates or maintains electrified vessels. Clean technology is only as good as the people who run it.

Resilience & Emergency Response

Sustainable operations must also be resilient operations. Our emergency response protocols, backup propulsion planning, and grid-independent operating capability ensure that clean vessels continue to serve communities when they are needed most.
